Week before easter

We have finished alot of our assessments in class.
When we finished on Thursday we come back on Tuesday.
We are doing nothing much over Easter. We wont eat meat on Good Friday.
I have to work on Thursday 5 - 11 pm.
I have to work on Sunday 4 - 11 pm.
This is getting ready to start when we come back at CGVE and i hope be in a good group.

This year I am going to Tafe to try and do my CGVE.

My Teachers this year so far are Rosemary, Louise, Sarah and Rhonda.

They are excellent and nothing is too much trouble.

Jenny is still there in the Library the same could be said for her.

We are at present doing a "Maths Dictionary" as a study guide for us. It has to have the front cover designed by us. We can decorate it by free hand or computer.

My first day at Tafe involved English with Rosemary and Technology with Louise.

We were divided into 2 groups for 6 weeks. I am sorry to say I am the oldest in my class.

I feel this will be a good year. I am hoping to do CGVE this year.

Deriece's visit

This is about my sisters visit. We have all had a great time. Deriece has been a rock, and I am so happy she is my sister. The days haven't been long enough for us to fit everything in. My sister is moving to a new job, and a new town called Liverpool. I hope she will be happy. We will miss her.

Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year for 2008.
This is my last day this year (2007).
I am a bit sad, but I have met some very interesting people and learnt a lot.
I have learnt how to do work with a group and how to concentrate in class, without getting distracted by others in my class.
I am doing better literacy, specially in my job.
My Teachers in my course were excellent (Louise, Rosemary and Annette) the Librarian Jenny was helpful in all aspects of my course.
The Deniliquin Tafe is a great asset to Deniliquin.
I am looking forward to doing my CGVE in 2008.

Hi my name is Bronwyn Hehir and my self and another student are doing a mock interview, I am supposed to be 100 years old and am being interviewed by an up and coming News Reporter Miss Danica Hamilton.

1. When and where were you born?

I was born at a small country town called Barham in the year 1907.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Barham later on I went to a boarding school.

3. Did you go to school?

Yes I did. I went to Barham Primary and later to a Boarding School in Melbourne.

4. How did you handle all the changes in life?

It was a very hard life going from the farm to the City.

5. Can you explain what a school day was like?

When I was in primary School I got up at 5am we had water from a well to wash ourselves. I had to do jobs around the house for an hour before we left. I had to walk 5 miles to school, then we had combined lessons, then lunch at twelve and back to class until 3pm. Then walk home and do more jobs until dark.

6. What was the housing like when you were a child?

2 bedroom house, 1 at the bottom and an attic at the top which was my room which I shared with 2 other sisters.

7. What was your first job?

I was a Desk Clerk in a bank in Melbourne.

8. Do you find children these days happier?

I don't think they are happier they just have more choices.

9. What did you do as a teenager for fun?

I was only allowed to go to the Movies with a group of people, but there was a 10 pm curfew.

10. What age did you leave school?

I was fourteen when I left school.

11. Do you think teens have more fun now days?

Yes they seem to have more freedom to do what they want to do.

12. What jobs did you have?

As I said before a Desk Clerk until I was 20 years old and then an arranged marriage.

13. What were the working conditions like?

Hard, dusty and dry, also long hours on tea breaks only half an hour for lunch. We worked from 8 am - 5 pm five days a week.

14. How did you get from place to place?

To school when I was younger we walked or had a horse drawn buggy. Then when I went to Melbourne we used the trams.

15. Do you think life is easier for families now?

Yes in some situations. More jobs are available. And it is easier to get to jobs we had friends who had to walk for many miles to look for then.

16. Last of do you prefer life today or back when you were younger?

My life today is not as hard as I am a resident of a Nursing Home, I have 24 hour people looking after me so it is easier. But what have I too look forward to, maybe Dementia, or arthritis.

It is helpful to remind yourself of the positive ways in which you personally coped through the last drought or past losses, as this will help you to feel more confident and positive about coping this time. Some positive ways of coping include:
Taking time to be with family and close friends . Trying to keep the rest of your life as normal as possible:

Openly discussing the reasons why household expenditure is being cut back
Looking after yourself – eating properly, exercising etc
Expressing your emotions and letting family members talk about their emotions
Taking more care when driving or working around the farm and home, and
Remembering your sense of humour and laughing.

This is using all of my words to do with Dehydration.

The people say all of the dry and dusty weather we are having is to do with the El Nino, I personally find this hard to believe. We know the area we live in could become arid, if we have to have a trickle of rain to flow into continual rainfall for a week. The irrigation of the area would be totally different. We could have many distraught farmers who have not many opportunities and are feeling a bit needy in our time of hardship. We have many hurt men in the area who have to tell their families that Christmas will be a bit tight this year and many years to come. We all yearn for happier times and pray and hope for rain. The resources are available if you know who to ask or who to ring.

Tafe is nearly finished for the year. I have thoroughly enjoyed it. The teachers were fantastic. Even the other students were really helpful.

I was born on 14Th March 1907, in a small Country town called Barham.

I first started school at Barham Primary.

I was a clerk until I was 20 then I left because I had a arranged marriage.

By tram which was easier, I used to walk everywhere.
Yes. There are more jobs available and it is easier to get to jobs we had to walk to work earlier.
It is not as hard now. Being in a Nursing Home is easier, with someone to look after me as I had no children or family to look after me.

Weekend from Friday 8th November

This weekend has been interesting.

I worked from 4 - 11pm o n Saturday.
This shift is very hard, it involves 4 showers and help deliver meals.
Then I do dishes from 6 - 7.30 pm.
Then I put residents to bed.
I put washing on and do ironing.
Then all night I answer buzzers.
Then on Su nday.
When I got home at midnight, I rang The local Hospital for some advice.
My shoulder was exceptionally painful. The nurse gave me some advice.
The next morning I spoke to hospital staff again.
I got my neighbor to drive me intto hospital.
I saw the doctor, he says it muscle spasms.

My weekend

My weekend was pretty typical.
I slept in on Saturday.
Worked on Saturday Arvo at 4 - 11pm.
Sunday morning washing.
Sunday arvo went to a Creative Memories party.
I sold $650 worth so I got $65 worth of free items.
I had 7 people there and had a great time.

I don't like how things are going at the moment. I am only getting 10 hours of work and this is very frustrating. I am lucky I have Tafe, it is my salvation. The friends I have met since starting are really important, Nick and Ashleigh are now members of my extended family. They also have good family members all different and all unique. Sarah my daughter, is doing year 12 work. It is very hard, with a lot of homework. My husband Colin, his condition is deteriorating. In anyother 5 years he won't be able to drive, his personality is changing. We have all noticed his personality is changing. His moods are really up and down lately. I don't know if I can cope.

WHAT I HOPE TO HAVE ACHIEVED IN TAFE

There are only 7 weeks to go.
I hope to get some exams done to get into Nursing or do a Cert 11 in Community Services.
I feel I have done some major things in my time at Tafe. I have learnt maths and how to re-learn english and get jobs finished.
The teachers and tutors are a major part of Tafe.
Jenny from the Library is a really important person to help you with any information you will need resourcing and internet, it is also important to have a printer to use at any time.

Modern field hockey sticks are J - shaped and made of wood. Equipment used is a stick, hockey ball and goal keeper cage. It is the oldest known stick and ball game (apart from Irish Hurling, which dates back to pre-historic times).
Who invented hockey is England.
One of the greatest secrets in hockey - goalkeepers has extra-ordinary eyesight. Goal keepers have the ability to focus set on an object for a long time called the "Quiet Eye Phenomenon".
The goalkeeper can filter everything else in his sight and zoom in the puck and the shooters stick.
What makes a hockey game good is preparation.
Hockey is 2 teams of 11 players each who use their 'hooked' sticks curved at the striking end to hit a small, hard ball into their opponent’s goal. It is called field hockey to distinguish it from the similar game played on ice. You push, pass and dribble a small, hard, usually white, ball, with one aim in mind - to score by getting the ball into the opponents' goal. To do that, they have to get the ball past the other team's goalkeeper, who protects the goal, and logically, tries to keep the ball out.
Field hockey is played on gravel; natural grass, sand based or water based artificial turfs. This is very popular in Europe, India, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and South Asia. Most countries games played between single-sex sides, although it can be played by mixed sex sides. In United States and Canada it is played predominantly by women.
Famous Australian hockey players are Jamie Dwyer who won the International Hockey Federation's Player of The Year Award in 2004; he became the only player, man or woman, to win both the junior and senior awards. He won the junior award in 2002. To be voted the best hockey player in the world twice reflects his outstanding talent.
A famous Australian hockey player is Rechelle Hawkes. A three times Olympic gold medallist, she started playing hockey when she was six years old, little did she know that one day she would become one of Australia's most famous athletes. Hockey was played in Western Australia as early as 1902.
Player positions as already mentioned, every team must have a goalkeeper. The other 10 players are referred to as 'field players', and are dispersed over the field of play. The players can be put into three general categories - attackers, defenders and midfielders.
Stick handling is an essential skill necessary for playing hockey is the ability to control, pass, push, stop and shoot the ball with your hockey stick.
No Feet it may seem like common sense, but it is worth mentioning that in hockey, field players are not allowed to use their feet (or any other parts of their bodies for that matter) to control the ball.
Scoring a goal in hockey is very interesting. There are only certain ways it can be done; from a Field Goal, from a Penalty Corner, and from a Penalty Stroke.
Penalty Corners if a defending team breaks certain rules, the other team may be awarded a penalty Corner.

My family is very important. My husband is a kind man, his name is Colin. I have a wonderful daughter called Sarah. she wants to be a Doctor, or Vet. I work in Aged Care.
